Heard of: Content is King?
The most important aspect of a website is the content found within it. Content must be relevant and factual to the industry that you find youself in.
Copy Content Writing is a skill of its own, which needs to be learnt. Actual fresh content plays a major role in on-page optimisation!!
Why Content is King
The content of a website is the most important part. Take time to produce quality relevant copy content for your industry.
Good content is factual and grammatically correct, though that is not necessarily a must for all kinds of sites. Whatever your industry sector, the content needs to be unique and/or specific enough to appeal to people. More specifically, it needs to be useful to the people you want to find your site.
Relevancy is the main aspect here, creating content that only borders on your industry wont help you to keep your visitors on your site. A user wants to be informed about your services and doesnt want to have to carry out another search to find someone that gives them what they want.
The more relevant, clear and concise your content is helps with the relevancy of your site in the search engines, it also inspires users to come back to your site.
Copy Content Presentation
Use correct tags to present your content. A user must be guided through the content found within a page, using semantic mark-up, it is easy to present correctly.
Always make sure that the content uses the correct tags, a "headline" should use the headline tag, there are six headline tags in total that can be used:
<h1>Heading 1</h1><h2>Heading 2</h2><h3>Heading 3</h3><h4>Heading 4</h4><h5>Heading 5</h5><h6>Heading 6</h6>
When text needs to be emphasised use the "<strong>Emphasis</strong>" tag.
A paragrph of text should be in a paragraph tag: "<p>My Paragraph</p>"
Lists should use the list elements such as:
<ul></ul>Unordered List<ol></ol>Ordered List<dl></dl>Definition List

Using correct mark-up can and will improve your users online experience and it will also make a lot of difference with your search engine performance. Using the headline tags correctly placing your keywords and/or keyphrases within them improves the general site performance.
This should be carried out correctly, it wont help stuffing keywords into tags when they have nothing to do with the page content, the headlines describe that what comes next.
Dont hide your content
Using technology such as "Flash" you can (if the site is completely based around this technology) deprive the search engines from indexing your site. If you have built a site that is solely built around Flash, then provide a text equivalent, so that the search bot can read and index the content.
A good form of practice is to supply two versions of the site, one for Flash and a duplicated site that is based upon standard HTML The content must be visible to the search robots to have an effect in the search engine results pages.
